The Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of RA Ara Zohrabyan and Shirak’s marzpet Karen Sarukhanyan signed a memorandum of understanding on 19 November 2018.

Within the framework of the signed document it is envisaged to provide free legal aid to the residents of the marz (region), as well as the marz (regional) administration will provide free of charge space for the advocates practicing advocacy in the region.

“With this step, we also ease the social burden of the State concerning the legal aid. Besides this, we attach great importance to organizing awareness trainings for our schoolchildren at schools, by our advocates”, pointed out Ara Zohrabyan.

Shirak’s marzpet Karen Sarukhanyan, in his turn, expressed his gratitude for launching such an important cooperation and announced that there are already registered citizens who are waiting for the implementation of the program.

 During the meeting the parties discussed also those social issues that require legal solutions. The latter include receiving apartments, having financial obligations towards the banks and other issues.

It should be noted that 50 lawyers are involved in advocacy activities in Shirak marz, 5 of whom are public defenders.
