WORKSHOP ON HUMAN RIGHTS, ACCESS TO JUSTICE AND CORRUPTION ISSUES
17.11.2018 15:41“Factual Information: the Challenges of the Rule of Law, Human Rights, Corruption, Access to Justice” workshop was held in the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia on 16 November, 2018. Among the participants were attendees of the School of Advocates of RA, lecturers, representatives of “Armenian Bar Association” NGO.
The discussion was held within the framework of the US Department of State's International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau program.
The program is implemented by the Nottingham Law School of the United Kingdom jointly with the Law Faculty of Yerevan State University.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia Ara Zohrabyan made an opening speech, noting that he highly appreciates the continued cooperation of the Chamber of Advocates with the US Embassy in Armenia. “The goal of this program is to create a unified learning platform where the advocates including public defenders, staff members and attendees of the School of Advocates of RA will have the opportunity to discuss and collaborate on human rights and anti-corruption issues in the justice system” pointed out the Chairman of the chamber.
A welcoming speech was delivered by the director of the School of Advocates Simon Babayan, which was followed by the report of the keynote speaker, representative of the Nottingham Law School of the United Kingdom P. Henderson.
During the discussion, the participants raised a number of issues and agreed to reflect on them within the framework of specific trainings organized later in March-April 2019.
The meeting-discussion had a preparatory role on the way of finding out the experience in dealing with key issues within the framework of human rights and corruption in Armenia and the challenges of different stakeholders.
