THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PUBLIC DEFENDER OFFICE OF ARMENIA AND THE SCHOOL OF ADVOCATES HAVE BEEN PRESENTED TO THE COLLEAGUES FROM BALTIC COUNTRIES
05.10.2016 10:51The delegation of the Chamber of Advocates of RA headed by the first deputy chairman of the Chamber Artur Hovhannisyan on the 4-th of October in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo took part in the regular meeting of the Balkans Regional Rule of Law Network (BRRLN).
One of the main purposes of the meeting was to discuss the mechanism of providing free legal help in Baltic countries, the steps that are taken in the ongoing development of advocates study.
One of the main questions of the event’s agenda was the presentation of the successful experiences of the office of the Public Defender of the Republic of Armenia and the School of Advocates.
Artur Hovhannisyan presented to his colleagues the mechanisms of providing free legal help guaranteed by the government of Armenia, the main issues and challenges that take place on that matter, the structure of the office of the Public Defender, the financing, the procedure of electing public defenders, the “electronic public defender” program. By the request of the present, he also detailed the peculiarities of the work of the School of Advocates of RA.
The examples of the Public Defender office and the School of Advocates aroused interest among the heads of the Baltic advocacy structures.
During the event had also been discussed the possible cooperation points between the Chamber of Advocates of RA and 5 Baltic countries’ advocacy structures. The structure of BRRLN includes Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Makedonia and Kosovo advocacy structures.
