On the 2-nd of August the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of RA Ara Zohrabyan received near the administrative building of the Chamber the gathered citizens who were led by actress Tamara Hovhannisyan.

According to the organizer of the meeting Tamara Hovhannisyan, the procession towards the Chamber of Advocates was aiming to support the lawyers defending the rights of the imprisoned after the July 17-th cases.  

In the Big Hall of the Chamber the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of RA greeted those who were present and informed them that a great amount of lawyers are involved into the criminal cases connected with recent events and only Civil Defender office provides free of charge legal aid to 45 persons.

The participants of the procession presented the Chairman of the Chamber and the advocates present their worries concerning the areas where the arrested were kept, their health problems, worries concerning the breach of elementary rights. Tamara Hovhannisyan proclaimed the announcement connected with the aim of the procession asking the advocates who were present to announce fresh information about their defendants. The advocates Inessa Petrosyan, Givi Hovhannisyan, Harutyun Bagdasaryan detailed the health issue and some other questions concerned to the activity of bodies leading the legal case. The former Chairman of the Human Rights Defender of RA Karen Andreasyan who had joined the procession noted that he was present as a worried citizen and offered the Chairman of Chamber to form a united Council of lawyers and citizens to response further obstacles and violations.  He stated that the creation of such Council would be rational as a great number of

citizens from Armenia and Diaspora showed interest in it.   

The Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of RA Ara Zohrabyan reminded of the independence of the advocate performing his professional duties, adding that the advocates act on behalf of the law and aren’t supervised by the Chamber. The Chairman of the Chamber noted that the legislative system could be perplexed by civil supervision and suggested to provide the advocates who expressed wish of creating such a Council with all necessary terms.
